It's been about 3 weeks since I've finished reading "On Writing Well" by William K. Zinsser. I'm usually a very slow reader but it's such a well-written book that it was both easy and fun to read. I was surprised that I enjoyed the chapters about writing a memoir as much as I did. Probably because it was more than simply writing well - it was about discovering who you are as a person. I didn't really understand the section on humour. I think it was because the examples he used were so old and outdated. The chapters on simplicity and clutter are a nice reminder to write honestly.

I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to improve their writing. In fact, I've already lent it to my sister. If you read it, let me know what you thought by sending me an email.
